We are delighted to announce that in July 2022 we became the second Trust to receive Pathway to Excellence designation.
Pathway to excellence is a nursing and midwifery excellence framework, aiming to create a positive practice environment where our staff can excel. The programme is made up of three pathways which enables us to embed a culture of excellence, improving staff satisfaction and retention and improving outcomes for our staff, patients, families and the local community. It is delivered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
When you join our team, you’ll have the reassurance of knowing that we support you and value your contribution. In turn we will build a positive practice environment for you and your colleagues.
The three pathways to excellence
Pathway to Excellence is measured through the following:
- Nursing and midwifery excellence – the six pathway standards are:
- Leadership
- Shared decision making
- Wellbeing
- Quality
- Safety
- Professional development.
- Shared decision making
- Local accreditation
We give staff the ability to affect and influence change
Our pathway for shared decision making encourages the sharing of best practice and learning from each other. Through the establishment of shared decision making councils our health care professionals are given the platform to work together on local quality improvement initiatives and be part of one professional voice.
The Pathways to Excellence programme helps to drive and develop the focus on staff wellbeing, highlighting staff resilience and the impact on staff mental health. We have developed a variety of wellbeing initiatives and developed the people strategy to support our colleagues to work together, grow together, thrive together and care together.
