The children and young people’s epilepsy service runs dedicated epilepsy clinics, with specialist epilepsy nurses and consultant paediatricians with an additional qualification in epilepsy. All new appointments last for 45 minutes and follow up appointments are 20 minutes. We offer both community and acute based clinics. There are also regular outreach clinics with a visiting neurologist from Addenbrookes Hospital and the local team of paediatrician and specialist nurses.
We aim to see all new referrals within two weeks of accepting the referral, which is in line with NICE guidance.
In order for your child to access this service your GP will need to refer to them to our epilepsy clinic.
As a team we can help by providing information to you and your family on seizure management and epilepsy awareness training.
We are available Monday to Friday. There is no service on bank holidays or at the weekend. We also have student nurses working with us at regular intervals. Please advise your nurse if you do not want a student to be at your clinic appointment
