Christine Gan qualified from Oxford University in 2008, then underwent Urology specialty training in the North-west London deanery. She undertook 2 years of clinical research at Guy’s Hospital London, with a focus on non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. She was appointed as a consultant at Lister Hospital in Stevenage in 2019.
Miss Gan has a clinical interest in the diagnosis and management of Urological cancers. She co-leads the local anaesthetic trans perineal prostate biopsy programme at Lister, and also developed East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust’s trans-urethral laser ablation (TULA) service for the outpatient treatment of small bladder tumours under local anaesthetic.
Miss Gan also has a strong interest in the treatment of men with urinary problems secondary to an enlarged prostate (BPH). In addition to TURP, she also offers holmium laser surgery (HoLEP) for men with very large prostates, and Rezum water vapour therapy, which is a less invasive option, suitable for men who wish to preserve their sexual function.
Miss Gan has published extensively on Urological oncology and has presented at numerous international and national conferences. She is currently also an undergraduate tutor in Urology for Cambridge University final year medical students.
