Mr Uppal is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in complex reconstructive shoulder and elbow surgery.
He is an Oxford graduate and completed his early surgical training in the Oxford region. Mr Uppal undertook higher specialist training in trauma and orthopaedics in the West Midlands deanery, gaining expert training in trauma and elective surgery in University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
Mr Uppal was selected for and successfully completed three very prestigious and internationally well recognised fellowships in Exeter and in Bristol. Over these 18 months, he gained specialist advanced training, making him an expert in arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, elbow and wrist.
Mr Uppal has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and is thus the research lead for the department. He has a master’s degree in evidence-based orthopaedic surgery from the University of Warwick and has an interest in the development of artificial intelligence-driven machine vision systems to aid in the treatment of patients with shoulder and elbow disorders. Mr Uppal uses his in-depth knowledge of research to deliver the most up-to-date and safe treatments for his patients.
