Phlebotomy support for GP surgeries
If you have a concern/issue regarding your GP surgery phlebotomy service ie you need to cancel the clinic, the phlebotomist hasn’t turned up etc, please call or email the phlebotomy team:

Blood test booking link
To book a blood test appointment at Hertford County, Lister or New QEII Hospitals please ensure that you are providing patients with our blood test booking link: https://enherts.mixd.co.uk/services/blood-tests/
For those patients with no internet access please ask your patient to speak to the team directly: 01438 284044 (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm).
Please note that appointments cannot be booked directly through the Swiftqueue website
Urgent blood test
For those patients requiring an urgent appointment where one is not available via the bookable service, please ask your patient to speak to the team directly: 01438 284044 (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm).
Urgent phlebotomy requests are those:
- that are deemed clinically at risk of acute medical emergency, where laboratory results could avoid referral to the emergency department
- where cancer is being considered
ICE requests
Please ensure your blood request is on ICE before asking your patient to book an appointment at the Trust. Without a request on ICE, our phlebotomist cannot take the patients’ blood.

If you want to book your patient’s blood test appointment, please email GP Liaison who can provide the registration process and login password.
Domiciliary referral criteria
The phlebotomy team are seeing a significant increase in referrals to the domiciliary service that do not meet the criteria. Please note the referral criteria is:
- patients whose GP normally makes home visits
- patients in a nursing/care home
- patients recovering from major operations/illness (temporary domiciliary visits)
Patients will be provided an appointment in accordance to their priority:
- urgent, within 48 hours
- non-fasting, within 1 week
- fasting, within two weeks
