Dr Wijeyekoon is the Clinical Director for Rheumatology and Dermatology Services.
He was appointed as Consultant Rheumatologist in February 2011 having graduated in medicine from Imperial College in 1997 and completing an intercalated BSc in Immunology and Microbiology. He trained in rheumatology at a number of different London teaching hospitals before being awarded an MRC UK training fellowship and gaining his doctorate in Molecular Biology from Oxford University. He has an interest in undergraduate medical education and is a senior clinical tutor for Cambridge medical students. He is the departments IT lead and has developed a number of departmental databases to support the department’s clinical teams. He is also the department’s research lead and is primary investigation for a number of NIHR portfolio studies at the Trust.
